Jenani S. Jayakumaran, MD

Jenani Jayakumaran, MD, MHS, is a double board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and maternal-fetal medicine physician who is committed to guiding patients and families through high-risk pregnancies with expertise, compassion, and support. Dr. Jayakumaran’s passion for medicine began early, when she was accepted into a highly selective, guaranteed BS/MD program directly out of high school. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Monmouth University in just three years before pursuing a Master of Health Science degree from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. She subsequently matriculated at the Drexel University College of Medicine, where she earned her medical degree. She completed her OB/GYN residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, followed by a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Dr. Jayakumaran has been extensively involved in clinical research, serving as the principal investigator for two randomized controlled trials, one examining suture choices and the other evaluating antibiotic use at the time of cerclage placement. These studies, along with multiple other peer-reviewed manuscripts, have been published in leading journals within the field. She has also presented her research at regional and national medical conferences. Known for her thorough and attentive approach, Dr. Jayakumaran takes the time to carefully review each patient’s history, explain complex medical information, and answer questions thoughtfully.
