Front desk could be a little friendly

Majority of the front desk ladies are not professional. Attitudes are insane.

Did not necessarily feel very welcome as I was checking in.

John Smaniotto was pleasant, knowledgeable, and explained everything carefully and completely.

The check-in staff could have been a little nicer.

John was great! Very attentive to my needs and great explanations about my surgery and care.

It's always fabulous when I come there. Everybody treats me really nice. And also the doctors are, you know, it's just that my right knee is so bad. It still, you know, hurts. But I will discuss that with him, you know, after. But the shots were good, very, very good. So, and the whole office is fabulous. The girls are wonderful. And don't, please don't get rid of none of them. They are really great. Everybody is. And I really like all the doctors that are there. So thank you very much for calling me and have a fabulous day. Very courteous and professional staff from the PA XRay tech Nurse and sign in staff.

I was a little disappointed with the PA I saw. I am still 50% weight-bearing, (as he had just gotten done telling me), and he didn't make sure I had my crutches before he left the room. I was sitting on the exam table, and my crutches were leaning against a chair that was about 10 feet away. I was able to get to them but had to move very deliberately as to not break my precautions. I was also surprised that when I went to my first PT appointment, I had more precautions than I had been made aware of at my first post-op appointment. I was only told no flexing my hip to 90 degrees at my first post-op appointment at Virtua. At my PT appointment, (which was not at Virtua), I was told that I'm also not allowed to extend, or internally or externally rotate. I was confused why that wasn't part of my post-op protocol when either leaving the hospital or my first post-op appointment. Otherwise, I have been extremely pleased with the care and attention I've received from Virtua. Thank you

Both in person office visits were great. I was a bit disappointed with the lack of post-surgery follow-up right after my procedure. No one from the office called to check in after my procedure, and it was very difficult to reach someone when I had questions and needed assistance. Better communication and follow-up would have made my recovery experience much easier.

The visit was a post op visit. It felt like I was a new patient. My wieght and hieght were asked for, this was my fourth time there. The doctor was a doctor I never seen before it was not the doctor who scheduled and performed the surgery, the doctor I expected to see. The doctor performed a generalize could be applied to anyone visit. The visit was 9 days after the operation with the stitches removed and he is telling me it is ok to gently wash the area but not to submerge it. As per the hospitals instuctions DAY 3 when the bandages came off the area could be cleaned but do not submerge it. With the stitches removed he acted like water will still beable to enter the surgical site. He had no clue what occurred during my previous visits. In my visit with the surgeon he gave me time tables for what to expect for recovery and how to good what was doable. I never did anything to cause pain in the knee. I told the doctor I was in no pain. When I told the doctor every I had been doing with no pain,(Up and down steps, walk with my normal strides and speed, 12.5 mile hike the day before) he told me I should not be as active I could over do it. He wanted to show me the surgery photos. I told him I had the photos with written descriptions on the photo. He showed me anyway and choose to explain what the photo was showing. I already seen the photos and know what it was showing because my same photos had written descriptions. He preceeded to explain to me the potential future negative effects that could occur from the surgery. That was all discuss prior to surgey as it needed to be. There was no need an a little to late to matter

A very good experience!

Scheduling, Rescheduling and general communications around appointments has become such a hindrance that I would like to move on from Virtua. I originally came because it was easy to schedule appointments online, now I have to go through a cumbersome and at times maddening phone experience which includes multi-hour hold times.

I was extremely pleased with John's care. He was attentive and did excellent with my knee injection. From the front desk to the assistant who saw me before John came in I have no complaints. The oveall office visit was excellent.

Great people

I want to stress that Dr. Macmillan is one of the greatest surgeons and I would never get orthopedic work done on any of his specialties by anybody other than him. And I do like his staff very much. My problem is when I was there last time, I made it very clear that this was covered under a car accident, which I've done multiple occasions. I get a call from the hospital and I have, I wear hearing aids. I have a TTYL telephone. It prints out everything everybody's saying around me so I can actually read what they're saying so I don't sound like an idiot and answer the wrong questions. I have the entire written transcript of what happened in that office and how they said that they were making sure that it was the state farm insurance and that they were going to add my UnitedHealthcare as the secondary payer so that 80% would go to State Pharmac and since it was a car accident where a guy ran a red light and keep on my car.

I was expecting to see [REDACTED]. They had canceled my appointment last week, so it was a surprise that I got to see this provider. He was very, very understanding and accommodating, and I stayed with him. But I have to say that this is very difficult when people are being changed around and I don't have no continuity of care.
