Martin M Forsberg, MD

Martin Forsberg, MD, is a dual board-certified psychiatrist with experience treating a wide range of psychiatric conditions. He specializes in care for elderly patients and those with post-traumatic stress disorder. Dr. Forsberg earned his medical degree from MCP-Hahnemann University and completed his psychiatry residency at the Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Forsberg also completed a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Forsberg is an associate professor in the Department of Geriatrics and Psychiatry at the Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine New Jersey Institute of Successful Aging. He is the director of the geriatric psychiatry fellowship and chief of geriatric behavioral health. He teaches and supervises medical students, residents, and fellows at the clinic and bedside. He provides psychiatric consultation to patients in the community, as well as in long-term care and assisted living settings. His interests include trauma, delirium, and behavioral manifestations of dementia. His research pertains to blood-based biomarker discovery in Huntington’s disease, the effect of alpha-blockers on re-experiencing of trauma in PTSD, and the effect of anesthesia on the blood-brain barrier. Dr. Forsberg is fluent in Swedish.
