Vladimir Lakhter, DO

Vladimir Lakhter, DO, FSVM, RPVI, is an interventional cardiologist highly experienced
in the evaluation and treatment of coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, critical limb ischemia, venous disease, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and pulmonary embolism. He also has expertise in balloon pulmonary angioplasty (PA) for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), a highly specialized therapy performed by a limited number of interventional cardiologists around the country. Dr. Lakhter earned his medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency, cardiology fellowship (where he served as chief fellow), and interventional cardiology fellowship from Temple University Hospital. Dr. Lakhter also completed a vascular diagnostic and intervention fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Prior to coming to Virtua, Dr. Lakhter served as an associate professor of medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, program director of interventional cardiology fellowship and director of the cardiac catheterization lab at Temple Health’s Jeanes Hospital. He has participated in numerous research studies, authored more than 100 articles in medical journals and textbook chapters, and presented at conferences nationwide. Dr. Lakhter is fluent in English and Russian. Outside of medicine, Dr. Lakhter enjoys spending time with his wife and their three daughters. His hobbies include tennis and cooking. Dr. Lakhter’s addition further strengthens Virtua’s cardiovascular programs and expands access to advanced therapies for patients across South Jersey.
